Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP)
Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP) is a preservative for seafood, meats, poultry. It is used as an emulsifier and to retain moisture as STPP can increase the tenderness of meat, and can also be used as a food improver for fish products, a clarifier for beverages and in the dairy industry as well.
It is mainly used for tenderizing canned ham and softening bean skin in canned broad beans. It is used in tissue improver, emulsifier, buffer, chelating agent and stabilizer. As a quality improver, it has the functions of increasing the complex metal ions, pH value, and ionic strength of food, thereby improving the cohesion and water holding capacity of food. It has been used in poultry products, ice cream and instant noodles, canned food, fruit juice and beverages.
Other Usages & Applications
STPP is an industrial phosphate is widely used as a component for the production of synthetic detergents, water treatment, as well as in the ceramic, paint, varnish and other industries such as environmental protection and attributed to its widespread use. It can also be used as a water softener, pH regulator and thickener.
