Sodium Metabisulfite (SMBS)

 

 

Sodium Metabisulfite (SMBS) is a colorless crystalline powder widely used in food, cosmetics, medicine and textile etc. Food industry is mainly used in the biscuit industry to develop soft and extensible dough and enhance.

 

It is composed of two sulfinyl ions and two sodium ions. Under acidic conditions, sodium metabisulfite decomposes into sulfur dioxide, water and sulfurous acid, so it is widely used in food processing and beverage industries to play a role in disinfection, sterilization and anti-oxidation.

 

Also, Sodium Metabisulfite is used to remove Chlorine excess in water treatment. Its function as an oxygen scavenger in order to eliminate dissolved oxygen from water. Sodium Metabisulfite is used in many other industries such as textile, mining, water treatment, construction, pulp and paper fields etc. manufacturing.
